Start with where the truck can stop
A Santa Monica move is easier to plan when the loading position is clear. Street-facing apartments, courtyards, alleys, and garages can each produce a different route for the crew. Share the address and tell us which entrance is actually used for moving. Do not assume that a garage suitable for a car can take a moving truck.
Check the City of Santa Monica’s parking guidance for your specific situation. Street loading, reserved curb space, and oversized-vehicle parking are different questions. Posted signs and the building’s own loading instructions still matter. We can discuss vehicle and access information with you before you arrange a reservation or permit.
Account for the building’s whole moving route
For an apartment near a busy commercial street, describe the path from the loading area to your unit, not just the floor number. Include elevator access, gates, corridors, and any steps before the main entrance. This helps us understand how often furniture and boxes will need to change direction.
At the destination, confirm who can open the service entrance and whether an elevator booking is exclusive or shared. Ask the manager about a COI and send the requested wording early. A confirmed moving window should fit the building schedule at both addresses, particularly when a lease handover limits your access.
Choose packing help that matches your priorities
If most belongings are ready but the kitchen is not, ask about focused kitchen and fragile-item packing. The calculator adds a $160–$240 allowance for that option. Full packing uses a larger allowance of 45–55% of estimated moving labor. We review the contents and materials before confirming a packing price.
For a self-packed move, close and label boxes by the room they will enter in the new home. Keep delicate pieces separate from heavy books and tools. Set aside the first evening’s essentials so a short local move does not end with searching every box for bedding and chargers.
Understand the rate and the minimum
Two movers and a truck are $89/hour, with a 3-hour minimum of $267. Three movers are $129/hour and four are $169/hour. Fuel is included, and billing after the minimum uses 15-minute increments. Your written confirmation explains the planned crew and any specialty work.
For example, a one-bedroom move within the calculator’s under-5-mile band, with straightforward access and kitchen packing, produces a planning range of $450–$640. That combines estimated moving labor of $290–$400 with the packing allowance. It is an illustration; the actual inventory, addresses, and access can change the time and scope.
Keep the handover simple
Decide where larger furniture will go before unloading. Check that the entry route is clear and any doors or gates can remain safely accessible while the team works. If you are making a storage stop, share that address and its opening hours when we plan the route.
Our movers are background-checked W-2 employees. The hourly rate includes loading, unloading, standard furniture assembly, and basic packing help; blankets, tape, and shrink wrap come with the move. Tell us about specialty items before booking. Call (213) 222-5712 to discuss a Santa Monica move, a Westside route, or a farther destination. We confirm availability and pricing before moving day.
