Choose your crew
| Crew + truck | First 180 billable minutes | Minute 181 onward |
|---|---|---|
| 2 movers | $2.50/min | $2.15/min |
| 3 movers | $3.40/min | $2.90/min |
| 4 movers | $4.30/min | $3.65/min |
180 minutes is a rate threshold, not a minimum purchase.
If your move uses 90 billable minutes, you pay for 90. The lower rate applies only to minutes after the first 180. The first 180 minutes retain the initial rate.
If your move uses 70 billable minutes, you pay for 70. If it uses 200, the first 180 are billed at the initial rate and the remaining 20 at the lower rate.
How we bill
Billable minutes = work at the addresses + 2 × actual driving time between the addresses.
This formula describes a standard one-pickup, one-delivery move. For additional stops or multiple trips, we confirm the applicable travel calculation before moving day.
Work at your addresses
Time spent packing, protecting furniture, loading, unloading and completing the agreed work counts toward your billable minutes. Stairs and long carries take working time. They do not trigger a separate fee.
Driving between your addresses
We use double drive time between pickup and delivery. A 20-minute drive adds 40 billable minutes. This is how travel time is calculated on a standard one-pickup, one-delivery move.
Those minutes count toward the same 180-minute rate threshold as work at your addresses. There is no separate travel-rate tier.
Getting to you and returning afterward
You are not billed for the crew’s trip to your first address or its return from your last address.
One-minute billing
No 15-minute billing blocks. No 3-hour minimum.
How the lower rate works
For two movers and a truck, the first 180 billable minutes cost $2.50 each. Every additional billable minute costs $2.15.
240 billable minutes = (180 × $2.50) + (60 × $2.15) = $579.
A short-move example
Two movers and a truck, with one pickup and one delivery address:
| Part of the move | Actual time | Billable minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Loading | 40 minutes | 40 |
| Driving between addresses | 15 minutes | 30 |
| Unloading | 20 minutes | 20 |
| Total | 75 minutes | 90 |
90 billable minutes × $2.50 = $225.
This example shows how the calculation works. Your total depends on the work and driving time for your move.
What your minute rates include
What your minute rates include
- Your selected crew and a moving truck.
- Fuel, without a separate fuel surcharge.
- Stairs, without a separate stair fee.
- Long carries, without a separate distance fee.
- Ordinary, non-specialty items weighing 250 lb or less per item, without a separate heavy-item fee.
Working time still counts toward your billable minutes.
Items over 250 lb or requiring specialty handling must be agreed separately before the move. The weight allowance does not automatically include specialty handling. Tell us about these items when requesting your move so we can confirm the scope and any separate charge in advance.

Compare the complete price
A lower advertised hourly rate does not tell you the complete cost. Check the minimum purchase, travel calculation, billing increments and any separate fees.
With Movers-LA: no 3-hour minimum, one-minute increments, published rates for both tiers, fuel included, no separate stair or long-carry fees, and no separate heavy-item fee for ordinary, non-specialty items up to 250 lb each. Travel to your first address and return from your last are not billed.
A company with a lower hourly rate may cost less, particularly for a longer move. Our commitment is to explain our calculation before you book.

We confirm your crew size, both minute rates, arrival window, the agreed scope and any separately agreed services or charges by text before moving day.
