How much should you budget for a local LA move?

Use the crew rate, billed hours, and packing scope to build a budget you can actually compare.

Start with the hourly rate and the minimum

At Movers-LA, 2 movers and a truck are $89/hour, 3 movers are $129/hour, and 4 movers are $169/hour. The standard minimum is 3 hours, so the starting charges are $267, $387, and $507. Fuel is included. After the minimum, we bill in 15-minute increments.

These numbers describe the rate structure. They do not tell you how many hours your particular home will take. A useful quote also considers the furniture, boxes, access, and work requested at both addresses.

Include travel in the right place

For our local household moves, driving time between pickup and delivery is counted twice. Suppose loading and unloading take 3 hours and the drive between homes takes 30 minutes. That produces 4 billed hours. With 2 movers at $89/hour, the example totals $356 before any separately agreed packing or specialty work.

Do not compare that figure with an estimate that leaves travel out. Ask each company what its hours include, when the clock starts and ends, and how extra stops are treated.

Treat a bedroom estimate as a starting point

Our calculator’s one-bedroom example with straightforward access, no packing, and a 5–15 mile distance band is $330–$450. It uses a suggested 2-person crew and 3.75–5 estimated billed hours. An elevator queue or a larger inventory can change the actual result.

The calculator rounds the planning labor range to the nearest $10. Your bill follows the agreed hourly rate and billing increments. The planning range is useful for comparing options; it is not a fixed total or booking.

Make the scope easy to review

List oversized items, stairs, long carrying distances, storage stops, and packing needs. Ask for the crew size, hourly rate, minimum, included equipment, and any specialty price in writing. For kitchen packing, our calculator adds $160–$240; for full packing, it adds 45–55% of estimated moving labor.

A clear inventory and realistic access plan are often more useful than chasing the lowest headline rate. Review the whole scope, then use the calculator or contact our office for your own moving plan.
