Loading docks and freight elevators
Most Downtown high-rises and many loft buildings require a reserved moving window, a freight or service elevator, and a specific loading dock or entrance. Book these with building management early and send us the confirmed times for both addresses.
Ask whether the building needs a certificate of insurance (COI) and the exact wording. COIs are available on request; send the details when you ask for a quote.
Street loading is limited
Street parking Downtown is tight and heavily restricted. If your building has no dock, tell us where the truck could load and how far it is to the elevator. Distance from the truck to your unit adds working time, but there is no separate long-carry fee.
Lofts often have large, open rooms and oversized furniture. Measure elevator doors and cab height for long sofas, headboards and shelving.
Parking the truck
Downtown LA is part of the City of Los Angeles. Check Los Angeles Department of Transportation guidance and the posted signs on your block when planning where the truck will stand. Confirm restrictions for the actual date, not on the basis of an empty curb during an earlier visit.
What a move in Downtown LA costs
Two movers and a truck cost $2.50 per billable minute for the first 180 minutes ($150/hour), then $2.15 per minute ($129/hour). Three movers: $3.40 then $2.90; four movers: $4.30 then $3.65. No 3-hour minimum. One-minute billing. Fuel included. We confirm rates and scope by text before moving day.
Billable minutes = work at the addresses + 2 × actual driving time between them. For example, 40 minutes loading, a 15-minute drive and 20 minutes unloading make 90 billable minutes: $225 with two movers and a truck. This illustrates billing, not the duration of your move.
